Building the Garage:
1. Foundation: Begin by laying the concrete foundation; remember the garage's final dimensions are 12 ft x 24 ft. Wait for the concrete to set completely.
2. Frame the Walls: Build the frames of the walls on the ground using 2x4 studs with 16-inch spacing. Ensure to frame out door and window openings at this stage.
3. Install the Wall Frames: Raise the wall frames and secure them into place on the foundation.
4. Install the Roof Frame: Construct and install the roof trusses. Confirm they are secure and adequately aligned before proceeding.
5. Sheathing: Begin installing the plywood or OSB sheathing on the walls and roof.
6. Install the Roof: Lay down the roofing felt, starting at the bottom and working to the top. Then attach the shingles, starting at the bottom and working your way up.
7. Wrap and Siding: Now it's time to cover the sheathing with house wrap and install the siding following the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Install the Doors and Windows: Install the garage door, regular door, and windows. Make sure these are well-fitted and secure.
9. Electrical Work: If you're including electricity, have your electrician come in to install outlets and lighting fixtures.
10. Finishing: Depending on your siding and window trim choices, you may now need to paint or stain the garage to finish it off.
Please note that you must comply with your local building codes and permits. Adjustments may be required based on local requirements and weather conditions.
